Formation of the institute of guardianship and upbringing orphans in ukraine from ancient times to the XIII century

Abstract

(UA) У статті висвітлено особливості виховання та опіки дітей-сиріт і дітей, позбавлених батьківського піклування в Україні від найдавніших часів до ХІІІ ст.

(EN) The article covers the particular features of upbringing and guardianship of orphans and children who have lost parents' concern in Ukraine from ancient times till the 18th century... The author singles out prechristian and Christian forms of social help to orphans and children who have lost parents' guardianship. The author pays attention to such forms of social help as adoption, nursing, old men institute, adopted child institute, help to an orphan, social help to orphans from the Church. The article demonstrates that among the traditions and forms of the help an important place is drawn to the care about orphans who are brought up as well as other children in the spirit of mutual help, hospitality and respect to old people.
