(en) The article deals with some methodical aspects of studying Dickens' creativity in higher education institutions and schools. Attention is drawn to the peculiarities of the writer's artistic style and the problems of creativity in the context of the Victorian era. The well-known novel "The Adventures of Oliver Twist" is suggested for consideration, in which the author, focused on comprehending social problems through the prism of moral values, tries to warn society from indifference and to make it more just and merciful. Dickens's works not only expose social defects, they also affirm Christian charitable attitude to a person, and in a globalized and pragmatic modern world, they must have a profound effect on the development of the spirituality of the younger generation, hence the moral and philosophical aspects of the writer's creativity, as well as the problem of humane attitude to a child in the society determine the relevance of our research. Dickens is traditionally regarded as the founder of the English realistic novel. The events of “The Adventures of Oliver Twist” take place in London, the gloomy slum of London, where the author's childhood passed, is the epitome of poverty and theft. Urbanistic pictures of the capital of England, in addition to the historical context, have an important function: they create a psychological mood of perception of the text, help to reveal the inner state of the characters. One of the central themes of the novel is the problem of upbringing in a society where, first and foremost, a child from a workhouse must save his own life so as not to die. Dickens's moralist stance is illustrative: Oliver's image remains a steady bearer of good. An educational novel for an adolescent reader is instructive, Oliver's important life lessons are played in the band of "cheerful old gentleman" Feigin, but the criminal world does not spoil the naive orphan, he retains his dignity and responsibility. The author exposes the crime and immorality of the social environment, which adversely affects the upbringing of children.
